The team at SRL is excited to announce our purchase by 3i Infrastructure plc.

Background

Since the management buyout of the business in 2019, we have experienced a period of sustained and unprecedented growth. This was enabled by a significant investment in personnel and the expansion of our product portfolio to include the most modern variable message sign (VMS) fleet on the market, work-zone protection barriers, CCTV, portable Urban Traffic Management and Control (UTMC) technology as well as traffic signals that feature the market’s only multiphase adaptive detection system.

3i Infrastructure

A London Stock Exchange listed investment company, 3i Infrastructure specialises in investing in UK asset intensive companies and has acquired a 92% controlling stake in SRL. Our management team has re-invested to secure the remaining 8% share of the business.

The move recognises our strong market position, asset intensive model and extensive depot network and will facilitate the next phase of SRL’s growth and success.

Structure for success

SRL’s future will be steered by our new CEO, Adrian Murphy. Adrian joined us as chief operating officer in April this year and will replace Richard Tredwin, who moves to the role of non-executive chairman, replacing Sat Dhaiwal. John McLaughlin takes the reins from Mike Marrison as chief finance officer.

Adrian and John will work with the long-standing and highly experienced leadership team that led the 2019 buyout to deliver the businesses ambitious strategic objectives.

What does this mean for our customers?

In the short term it is firmly business as usual but, in the longer term, 3i Infrastructure’s significant investment will enable us to further develop our research and development and manufacturing capabilities and bring even more innovative new products and market-leading services to our customers across the traffic management, construction, events and utilities sectors.
