We are delighted this month to welcome John Navin to the SRL team as Urban64 Business Development Manager.

John joins with a wealth of experience across transport sectors including rail, aviation, and traffic management. For more than 32 years his career has focussed on the development and promotion of products and solutions in some of the most safety-critical environments around the world, so he’s the perfect person to help SRL promote the benefits of SRL’s market-leading Urban64 product/solution to local authorities and contractors.

With previous employers including Siemens Mobility Limited (now Yunex Traffic Systems) and Siemens Transportation Systems along with smaller companies in the aerospace and defence industries, John was keen to work for an ambitious, forward-thinking business that values technology and innovation where he could have a positive impact with his extensive experience - so SRL was the ideal fit.

As BDM, John’s primary responsibility is to raise awareness around and promote the use of SRL’s pioneering Urban64 system among his network of contacts at local authorities and contractors and develop new relationships to ensure SRL continues its success story.

John is excited about the system’s potential:

"Urban64 is head and shoulders above the other products available on the market. It’s the only truly intelligent temporary traffic light management system to include permanent technology, which means it enables safe, efficient site-specific configurations and caters for both road users and pedestrians. A huge advantage to the local authorities is the system’s UTMC (Urban Traffic Management Control) and MOVA (Microprocessor Optimised Vehicle Actuation) connectivity and unique interface which means it can plug straight into the systems they’re already using.

Looking to the future, Urban64 will be compatible with the autonomous vehicle system interfaces that will become a feature of the UK road network and SRL’s ability to help customers navigate these major shifts in technology will be invaluable to our customers."

John will also be looking to promote awareness of the full range of products and solutions SRL now offers - including CCTV, VMS and Multiphase ADS - to ensure our customers know we can meet all their traffic management needs. Having joined on the 1st September, he has already been to the JCT Symposium in Nottingham and is busy building relationships throughout the UK.

When he’s not working John likes to watch the sunrise on the beach with his black lab and regularly goes sea kayaking with his family.
