About the Role

The Quality Controller will ensure the quality of incoming and outgoing goods in line with company and customer specifications. The role involves inspecting components, sub-assemblies, and finished products to maintain high-quality standards for a leading UK manufacturer of traffic signals.

Key Accountabilities

• Inspect incoming components and materials to ensure compliance with purchase orders, technical drawings, and quality standards.
• Record and report non-conformances and collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
• Verify certificates of conformity (CoC) and material test reports where applicable.
• Inspect finished traffic signal assemblies to ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
• Conduct final checks to confirm correct assembly, functionality, and labelling.
• Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate prior to dispatch.
• Perform in-process inspections on the assembly line to identify defects and improve processes.
• Support production teams by providing guidance on quality standards and tolerances.
• Monitor and document inspection results using company systems.
• Participate in root cause analysis for non-conforming products and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide feedback to the Quality Manager on recurring issues to drive quality improvements
• Collaborate with the production team to enhance quality control processes and reduce waste

Key Skills

• Experience in a quality/inspection role within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Strong understanding of inspection techniques and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of quality standards, including ISO 9001.
• Experience in the electronics or traffic signals industry.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
• Proficiency in using quality management systems (QMS) software.
• You will take the safety of yourself and others as your number one priority.
• Work independently or as part of a team in a fast- paced manufacturing environment.
• Comfortable working to strict deadlines and targets.
• Basic computer skills for recording and reporting data.
• Be able to build relationships and collaborate at all levels
