Urban64® in a nutshell
Up to 64 Signals
Urban64® can incorporate up to 64 sets of traffic lights in comparison with circa 20-39 in more traditional portable solutions, making it suitable for very large or complex projects.
No Batteries
Urban64® uses secure 48v cabling and data cabling derived from the mains feed ensuring your system never needs any downtime for battery exchanges.
Overhead Cabling
With taller posts than traditional lights, all cables run a minimum of 6.5m above the carriageway ensuring clearance from HGVs or double-decker buses, promoting safe and high usability.
Replicate Preceding Permanent Systems
Urban64® can use the same method of control as the permanent systems or a more suitable bespoke configuration to suit ongoing works so all existing permanent infrastructure (cables, poles, signals, loops) can be removed from site.
Offsite Build
Urban64® has specially designed modular blocks and poles which facilitate a more efficient way of transporting, installing and commissioning the system reducing installation time by 40%.
MOVA
Urban64® is the only intelligent temporary system to use MOVA (Microprocessor Optimised Vehicle Actuation), a sophisticated traffic control strategy, specifically designed to maximise operational efficiency of a junction.
SRL Support
From initial concept to completion, SRL offers bespoke layout designs to suit the temporary works including; full installation, maintenance, decommissioning, inspections and site visits.

Together, these features help reduce congestion effectively in both urban and high-traffic environments, regardless of scale.
Urban64® utilises a unique offsite build method which reduces installation time by 40% on large sites (18+ signals), enabling the setup to be completed in one night instead of two. Components are pre-assembled and modular, allowing teams to conduct detailed testing at Urban64 centres before deployment. Onsite work is minimized, with reduced team sizes and simplified setup due to pre-assembled poles and cables, resulting in fewer disruptions and a 25% reduction in installation fees.
Urban64® allows you to adjust your layouts within a short time to help tailor your site-specific needs as schemes change throughout construction stages. With the modular blocks and poles, and long cables, the layout of signals can be moved easily to align with the project. This allows bespoke site layouts and configurations to suit the ongoing works and on larger junctions, can mean you can slowly make parts of the scheme live once completed, with Urban64® taking up the rest.
Technical Capabilities
UTC / UTMC Connectivity
Coordinate the system with nearby permanent sites (with remote monitoring functionality) to allow smooth traffic flow across the local area.
Walk-with-Traffic Phases
Enable traffic and pedestrian movements to operate simultaneously (where possible) to provide maximum junction efficiency and safe operation.
Conditional Phase Appearance
Utilise functionality such as split phases, early start, early cut-off and conditional appearance concepts to maximise the junction efficiency and flow.
Four Streams per controller
Have up to four traffic streams to be simultaneously controlled via a single master controller for superior efficiency on more complex sites.
Programmable Timetable
Set adaptable timings for AM, PM and off peaks to provide optimal performance that caters to the junctions needs at different times of the day.
Remote Monitoring
Access remote control and monitoring via a 4G route which allows direct interfacing with the controllers LCD display.
Adjustable Site Layouts
Change the layout of the system as the scheme changes to meet the sites’ needs at different stages of construction.
Indicative Filter Phases
Implement filter arrows with 4-in-line or 5-in-line signal options where required, allowing the junction to operate similar to the preceding permanent counterpart.
Cyclist Phases
Enable the use of low-level cycle signals with a small cycle signal mounted a lower height for easy cyclist visibility to give cyclists a head start.
Integrate VMS
Connect your Urban64® with any of our variable message signs to provide warning, instructions or alternative routes to road users on the approach up to the system.
Additional Box Signs
Add 300m x 300m regulatory box signs as a 4th aspect beneath the green LED including: No Right Turn, No U Turn, Ahead Only, Turn Left and Turn Right.
Pedestrian Countdown Timers
A countdown timer is available alongside the Green Man aspect. Research shows such a timer increases pedestrians understanding of Pelican crossings and their safety.
