REMOS™ in a nutshell

Data Capture

REMOS™ is equipped with advanced radar sensors & CCTV cameras that continuously monitor traffic flow at the site and stream live footage of the area.

Putting this into perspective, removing just one onsite operative from traffic management operations for a full working year can reduce carbon emissions by approximately 3,564kg.

Our advanced Multiphase ADS detectors continuously scan the area to detect vehicle movements providing automated traffic signal management.

The REMOS™ Process

By enabling remote operation, REMOS™ removes the need for on-site operatives which will enable you to significantly reduce the risks and costs associated with traffic management.

Here’s how REMOS™ works:

1. Data Capture

REMOS™ Systems are equipped with advanced radar sensors and CCTV cameras that continuously monitor traffic flow at the site. The radar detects vehicle movement, while cameras live stream footage of the area.

2. Data Transmission

The captured data is transmitted in real-time to SRL's Central Control Room via the SRL Control Hub. The web-based platform allows operatives to access live traffic data and video feeds from multiple sites, simultaneously.

3. Remote Operation

Trained professionals in the control room analyse the real-time data and remotely manage the traffic signals. They can switch between automated modes and manual control as needed, ensuring optimal traffic flow at all times. 'All Red' is actionable, if required.

4. Proactive Management

REMOS™ allows for more frequent interventions and adjustments to traffic signals, reducing the likelihood of traffic congestion and improving overall efficiency. With REMOS™, potential issues are identified and addressed before they escalate, minimising disruption and enhancing road-user safety.

The Heart of REMOS™

SRL Control Hub

At the heart of REMOS™ is the SRL Control Hub, a secure, web-based platform that enables the remote operation of our UltraLight™ traffic signals. This sophisticated system allows trained operators to monitor live traffic flows, switch between automatic and manual modes, got to all red (if required) and control signal operations with precision – all from the comfort of a central control room.

Furthermore, as the live feeds are soley used to monitor traffic in real-time, no data or images is stored or retained meaning REMOS™ is GDPR compliant and the privacy of individuals is respected.

Yes, REMOS™ can be used on SolarLight™.

Currently, REMOS™ is not compatible as these are separate systems, but this will be a consideration for future development.

There are only forward-facing cameras on REMOS and these can be used to see traffic flowing freely away from junctions.

As part of the trial specification, the REMOS™ unit requires to stand out and be easily identifiable at each site where it is deployed.

Initially, all REMOS™ will go out on an Ad-Hoc basis and as we grow the fleet will review Long-Term Hire contract possibilities.

REMOS™ adheres to the Department for Transport’s statutory guidelines and industry standards (BSEN 50556, BS EN 12675, BS EN 12368, BS EN 50293), ensuring reliability and safety.

Currently, REMOS™ cameras do not have vehicle counting capability but this is part of the product roadmap.

There are no stage movement restrictions and stages can be demanded as required.

If the site has multiple lanes and the client requires this then REMOS™ will be deployed with two heads on each approach.

REMOS™ is not recording streams so therefore no signage is required but it is possible. We will add information to the units advising that cameras being used for enhanced Traffic Control.

An operator monitoring a site will be in a position to move to the appropriate stage and allow safe quick travel through the site and there is a thought process that we issue Control Centre contact details when working in vicinity of Emergency Service depots . Operators are not able to override safety timing set withing the controller so this stage move would need to satisfy All Red period preset within the controller.

At the moment there is no change but there is an enhancement that will be introduced when Lithium batteries are installed in UltraLight™ kit.

REMOS™ cameras would not detect this but as part of the overall solution, Portable CCTV can offered to cover this scenario.
