This initiative underscores the business’ commitment to environmental sustainability and renewable energy, a natural progression following the launch of our very own solar product, SRL Solar PLUS®, in 2023.
We are delighted to share that SRL were successful in receiving support from Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council via the Race to Zero Decarbonisation project. The funding is part of the Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund aimed at supporting the region’s businesses towards improving their energy efficiency and progressing to net zero.
The solar panel installation is part of our ongoing efforts to reduce carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future. By harnessing the natural power of the sun, we aim to significantly reduce our reliance on traditional energy sources, leading to a more sustainable and eco-friendly operation.
Key features of the solar panel installation include:
Energy Independence:
The solar panels will generate a substantial portion of the energy needed to power SRL’s Head Office (the company’s single greatest energy user), promoting energy independence and reducing dependency on non-renewable resources.
Environmental Impact:
The use of solar energy contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and create a cleaner environment.
Cost Savings:
The installation is expected to result in cost savings for SRL (becoming profitable from year six, onwards), reducing electricity bills and mitigating the impact of rising energy costs.
Corporate Responsibility:
By adopting sustainable practices, and ensuring they form a key part of the commercial strategy, SRL demonstrates its commitment to corporate social responsibility, and paves a path for others to follow in the sector.
The solar installation is projected to provide sufficient energy to power SRL’s HQ and manufacturing centre for around half the year and to provide a total annual carbon reduction of 6.45ct – the equivalent of planting 296 trees!
